Frequently Asked Questions

Who is it suitable for?  Age?  Ability?
It is suitable for students in Key Stage 3.  It is particularly targeted at young people who are at risk of offending and those vulnerable to victimisation.  We recognise that there is great difference between 11 and 14 year olds, and there are a great many differences between the experience and readiness-levels of young people from one school to the next.  For this reason, we are not prescribing this resource to one particular year group, but would be happy to discuss the optimum age range with each individual school.

Do the participants need to have an experience of drama?
No.  In fact, we welcome participants who would perhaps not normally choose drama.  These sessions are not about “acting” or “performing” but about using drama workshop techniques to explore the issues and practice life-skills.  Although the sessions may sometimes be challenging, the workshop leaders will ensure that the participants are never uncomfortable or out of their depth.

How many team members are there?
The programme is led by a team of six experienced and trained facilitators / actors.

What is the cost?
This depends on many factors, including whether your local authority has bought in the programme. Please contact us for more information about costs.

Why do you cap your audience size to 150 participants?
This is so the audience can benefit from the drama workshop, group discussion and performance of the play. If your year group exceeds 150, please contact us as we can design our programme accordingly.

What kind of space do you need?
For the performance and large group workshops, we need a large school hall. Ten Ten Theatre will arrive fully equipped with our staging, lighting, etc, so all we need need is a flat space with enough movable chairs for the participants. For the workshops in class sizes, we need a space such as a drama studio which provides enough room for movement with up to 30 young people.

What experience does your team have for running a project of this nature?
Ten Ten Theatre is a national theatre-in-education company working with approximately 30,000 students per year.  We have received many endorsements from a whole range of people in regards to our professionalism and standard of work.  This project has been researched through our project at Feltham YOI and developed in numerous secondary schools.  Ten Ten always aims to employ the right people for the job.  In the case of this project, the team visiting your school will be highly proficient actors and workshop leaders, with a strong ethic for educative learning.
